Edelweiss Ball: Over €435,000 Raised by Sponsors and Bidders at This Year’s Edition
Make Hope, Not War – The Theme of the Event
The Edelweiss Ball – the most important fundraising event of the year organized by HOSPICE Casa Speranței, now in its 25th edition – took place on June 13 at The Tent (Diplomatic Club).
Over €435,000 was raised by sponsors and bidders during the evening, supporting both the continuation of HOSPICE’s services and the construction of the pediatric palliative care hospital near Bucharest.
This year’s edition, held under the theme Make Hope, Not War, reminded us that regardless of uncertainty or even bullets (in the literal sense) flying past us, there is hope that unites us—a hope born from love for others and the value of their time. We are not alone; we are Together. This inclusive concept was once again evident at the event, reaffirming what we’ve seen over the past 33 years: the existence of a true network. Indeed, there is a network of those who create hope, said Mirela Nemțanu, CEO of HOSPICE Casa Speranței.
Art, Good Deeds, Artistic Moments, and Deep Emotion
The Edelweiss Ball, hosted by Amalia Enache, was held under the patronage of the British Ambassador to Romania, His Excellency Giles Portman, who also took the stage to express his appreciation for the foundation’s work. Other notable guests who voiced their support for HOSPICE included Cătălina Galer, State Counselor within the Presidential Administration, and Raed Arafat, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Director and choreographer Răzvan Mazilu – one of Romania’s most prominent artists and a long-time supporter of HOSPICE – delivered a powerful artistic performance aligned with the evening’s theme. The performance featured vocal artists Ana Bianca Popescu, Petru Călinescu, and Maximilian Muntean, with an acrobatic duo by Rebecca Marinof and Dima Roșca.
HOSPICE Casa Speranței ambassadors also took the stage. Actress Ada Condeescu moved the audience with a heartfelt monologue, while Gianina van Groningen introduced the silent auction, where attendees could bid on sports memorabilia donated by Robert Glință, Cristina Neagu, Ana Maria Brânză, Doru Todoruț, Cristian Șimonca, and Andreea Mitu. Doru Todoruț also closed the evening by announcing the event’s final fundraising total.
Bryan Jardine Inspired Bidders and Was Honored with the Evening’s Award
The live auction was led with energy and humor by Bryan Jardine, a long-time supporter and friend of HOSPICE Casa Speranței. The auction featured unique items and exclusive experiences, raising over €115,000.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the HOSPICE Champion Award, an annual recognition given to a personality who has significantly supported the foundation’s mission. This year, the award was presented to Bryan Jardine by Graham Perolls, founder of HOSPICE Casa Speranței.
