BREAKING NEWS: Ilie Bolojan nominated as Romania’s new Prime Minister
President Nicușor Dan officially nominated Ilie Bolojan, interim leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), as Romania’s new Prime Minister on Friday, June 20.
The decision follows Thursday’s consultations with parliamentary parties. In a press statement, the President emphasized the need for a strong majority to support the new government and thanked the political parties for their cooperation.
President Nicușor Dan: “It is in Romania’s best interest to have a government supported by a solid majority, and the parties understood this.”
He also addressed the one-month-long negotiation process: “There were sensitive topics and tough decisions involved. None of these days were wasted.”
President Dan stated that the country’s urgent priority is economic recovery, underlining the importance of addressing the national budget deficit to lay the foundation for long-term growth and prosperity.
