Minister of Energy visits the drilling site of well 54 Damianca, CARAGELE
Today, June 16, 2025, the Minister of Energy, Mr. Sebastian Burduja, visited the drilling site of well 54 Damianca in the presence of the management of SNGN ROMGAZ SA, Răzvan Popescu – General Manager, Aristotel Jude – Deputy General Manager and Dumitru Chisăliţă – Chairman of the Board of Directors. The commitment to discover new volumes of hydrocarbons is a priority of SNGN ROMGAZ SA, and the drilling of well 54 Damianca in the deep area of the Caragele structure is part of achieving this objective.

The 54 Damianca well, with a projected depth of 5100 m, is part of the portfolio of exploration wells aimed at identifying new hydrocarbon deposits, assessing the productive potential and geological configuration in areas with depths of over 4000 m. The drilling works of the well began in the first part of June 2025 and are progressing according to schedule.
In addition to the location of well 54 Damianca, the Minister of Energy and the ROMGAZ team also visited today the well 55 Damianca which is in operation.
The Caragele structure is located on the territory of Buzau and Brăila counties, in the RG06 Muntenia Nord-Est perimeter, a perimeter in which SNGN ROMGAZ SA carries out oil operations based on the Exploration-Development-Exploitation Concession Agreement approved by G.D. no. 23/2000, being its sole holder.
The Caragele structure is in production and has a significant contribution to the cumulative gas extracted from ROMGAZ. The structure is constantly developing as the wells dug prove its commercial character. In order to evaluate the accumulations already discovered and to highlight new accumulations, SNGN ROMGAZ SA aims to dig a number of 10 unconditional deep wells and at least 3 more boreholes conditioned by their result.
ROMGAZ, as part of its development strategy, has a solid portfolio of exploration projects that shape current and future investments in the onshore upstream segment, integrate commercial opportunities and align, at the same time, with the objectives of the energy transition in a responsible and sustainable way. source
