Below we present the transcript of the speech delivered by the President of Romania:

Your Majesty, King Felipe VI,

Ministers;

Your Excellencies, Ambassadors,

General, Chief of the Defence Staff,

Generals and Military Attachés,

Dear soldiers,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am pleased to be here, today, in Cincu, together with His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, on a visit that reflects the depth of our bilateral relations, founded on friendship, Euro-Atlantic solidarity, and shared democratic values.

Your Majesty, I warmly welcome you to Romania – ¡Majestad, le doy una cálida bienvenida a Rumanía! Welcome to Cincu!

We are going through an important, yet also challenging time for European and Euro-Atlantic security.

Your Majesty, I thank you – on this occasion as well – for Spain’s concrete and consistent contribution to strengthening security on NATO’s Eastern Flank. The presence of Spanish troops in Romania, as part of the Alliance’s Battle Group, is clear proof of Madrid’s commitment to collective defence and the deterrence of any threat to regional stability.

A vital link between our nations is the Romanian community in Spain. Over one million Romanians live, work, and actively contribute to the economic and social life of Spain.

Your Majesty, thank you for your continued support of this community and for the efforts of the Spanish authorities to ensure the due respect and support for Romanian citizens.

Your visit sends a strong message of unity and friendship between our nations. I am confident that relations between Romania and Spain will continue to develop in the spirit of strong, responsible, and forward-looking cooperation.

Dear soldiers from the Kingdom of Spain,

Thank you for your efforts, alongside your Romanian, French, Belgian, and Luxembourgish colleagues, to enhance the operational readiness of NATO’s Battle Group in Romania and for your important contribution to strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence posture in the Black Sea region.

Dear Allied soldiers,

I wish you success in your combat readiness training activities and in the missions you will carry out alongside Romanian troops!

Only together will we be more effective and more determined in ensuring a stable security environment, necessary for the development of our democratic societies.

Together we make Europe safer!
