Our top KPMG speakers will include René Schöb, Head of Tax & Legal at KPMG in Romania; Jay Ayrton, Partner, Head of Tax Reimagined EMA Region; Stuart Tait, Partner, Chief Technology Officer, Tax & Legal, KPMG EMA Region; Inga Țîgai, CEE Tax and Legal Technology Leader, KPMG in Romania; Adriana Băncianu, Head of the EMA Center of Excellence for Tax Reimagined, EMA Region, Vlad Crăciun, Tax Director KPMG in Romania.

We will also be pleased to welcome as our guest speaker a representative of the Romanian Tax authorities who, together with us, will explore the most recent trends in technology and digitalization.

The aim of the conference will be to provide strategic insights into the future of compliance and showcase how organizations can leverage digital transformation to navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment. It will also offer the opportunity to share experiences from a regional level and gain a broad picture of how changes in tax compliance are playing out across several countries.

The event is specifically tailored for C-level executives in tax and finance. Attendees will have the chance to connect with peers, industry experts, and thought leaders, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

Jay Ayrton makes the following recommendation to multinational companies that have embarked on their Tax Reimagined journey, “it is very much about thinking about the case of change, case for change, and then clearly articulating that in a vision and in a transformation plan. I think the really successful companies and the really successful tax functions are doing this. It takes time. It takes effort. It’s not something which happens overnight. Change management is hard, but, by setting yourself up for success, by setting out this vision, companies are able to achieve the success they want from a clearly articulated tax vision”[i].

Needless to say that for the journey to be complete, we need to recognize the current technology trend and the impact AI will have over the tax function. Stuart Tait comments:  “Gen AI is a “game changer for tax”, because it is capable of handling complex tasks beyond routine automation. Gen AI for tax research and technical analysis will give an efficiency gain akin to moving from typewriters to word processors”.

René Schöb adds: “This event will illustrate how new tools and innovations are likely to change the way tax compliance works, such as moving beyond the traditional model of submitting tax returns by the deadline and paying the tax. Future tax reporting is likely to be much more dynamic, with much of it taking place in real time. I’m looking forward to our discussions about the latest developments at this conference.”

Adriana Băncianu, considers that “the debate between outsourcing and insourcing is no longer just about cost – it is about capability, control, and the ability to scale innovation. As we reimagine tax, the most successful models are those that blend the best of both worlds: leveraging external expertise while building internal centers of excellence that drive strategic value”.

Inga Tigai comments: “As first movers in digital tax compliance, we’ve pioneered the e-reporting journey in Romania – which has been one of the earliest adopters in Europe. Building on this momentum, KPMG in Romania is now enabling companies across the CEE region to navigate fragmented ERP landscapes and evolving tax mandates through a unified, tech-enabled compliance suite. Leveraging our Digital Gateway platform, we help clients stay ahead by offering scalable solutions for SAF-T, e-invoicing, e-VAT, and data verification—designed to operate smoothly across jurisdictions, regardless of internal systems or local capabilities. Romania has made a bold leap in digital tax administration, embracing a true Level 3 transformation. ANAF’s shift toward real-time, data-driven compliance marks a new era of proactivity and transparency—positioning Romania as a regional leader in tax digitalization”.

Last but not least, Vlad Crăciun comments: “The KPMG experts at this event will address some broad topics and will also delve into practical issues related to transforming the tax function, which are important for businesses either with a cross-border exposure or dealing with various local lines of business. I am looking forward to a conference which I expect to be enjoyable and useful to our clients and the wider community.”
