Hochland Romania reaffirms its commitment to the intergenerational projects conducted by the Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation by supporting a special performance of the play “The Father”, with Victor Rebengiuc in the lead role, performed at Bulandra Theater around the Easter holidays to engage Bucharest audience in fundraising.
On April 16, a special performance of the play “The Father” will take place, featuring the esteemed Victor Rebengiuc in the lead role – the money collected from the ticket sales will be directed towards support projects dedicated to seniors.
The dedicated projects of the Royal Foundation create communities where the elderly can find social interaction and enjoy intergenerational activities. In addition, these projects provide seniors with emotional support, counseling, food packages, and social vouchers for essential needs.
An example of an intergenerational project is “Generații”, through which Hochland Romania funds 10 Generații Centers, where community seniors are involved alongside children from disadvantaged families in various activities such as homework, socio-educational activities, creative workshops, and vocational clubs. With factories in Sighișoara and Sovata, being one of the most important and appreciated employer in this geographical area, Hochland Romania continues to support the local community by financing Generații Centers in Transylvania since 2019.

One of the objectives of the “Generații” project is to encourage active aging and maintain a close connection with the community. Hence, the play “The Father” was not chosen by chance for representing this social cause. With its sensitive theme – losing oneself in old age and its impact on the individual and family – the play raises awareness among the public about the challenges of aging, inviting the audience to reflect on the fragility of the human condition. The “Generații” project also highlights the crucial role that younger generations play in reducing feelings of loneliness and worthlessness experienced by the elderly, and supports ongoing interaction between seniors and children, which benefits both age categories.
The fundraising event centered on the play “The Father” is an invitation to the public to build meaningful relationships with seniors and support intergenerational projects involving solidarity and mutual support. Priced at 250 lei, all 300 available tickets were purchased in less than 24 hours from moment they went on sale, reflecting the public’s willingness to engage in solidarity initiatives and support vulnerable groups, as well as the power of unity for a common cause.
“There are lonely seniors with a lot of love to give and children who need it, and for us, at Hochland Romania, it’s both an honor and a joy to contribute to improving their lives by facilitating their meeting within the Generații Centers in Transylvania, which we’ve sponsored since 2019. Our team is also engaged in volunteer activities and personal contributions to support vulnerable sernios. We’re delighted to see a significant number of people responding positively, in record time, to our invitation to develop the projects – and we want to thank them all”, declared Anca Stoica, Marketing Director, Hochland Romania.
As a token of gratitude, after the play’s conclusion, Hochland Romania will organize a tasting of the company’s much-praised cheeses and an exhibition of photographs from the Generații Centers, allowing donors to gain a deeper insight into the cause and be inspired by the “Generații” project.
“We chose to raise public awareness with the message of the play “The Father”, an emotionally powerful masterpiece by Florian Zeller, staged at Bulandra Theater by director Cristi Juncu. It’s more than a show – it’s a window into a reality that concerns us all but which is often ignored: the story of aging and the seniors among us who need our presence and attention. It’s time to open our hearts, think of those in need, and offer a precious gift – an act of solidarity for lonely and vulnerable seniors”, stated Ioana Petrea, Fundraising and Communication Director, The Royal Margareta of Romania Foundation.
Generații, the place where seniors and children become a family
The Generații project started from a series of concering statistics:
• Romania currently has over 3,8 million seniors, many of whom suffer from loneliness and a sense of uselessness.
• 1 in 4 seniors in Romania experiences high leveles of loneliness.
• According to a 2021 Eurostat report, Romania ranks first in terms of poverty risk.
• From a generation of children entering first grade, over 14% drop out before completing eighth grade, according to the latest report of the State of Pre-University Education in Romania.
The main objective of the Generații project is to address holistically, through intergenerational approaches, the issues that arise among the two generations (seniors and children) by encouraging solidarity and interactions between generations, along with the exchange of values and knowledge.
With the support of Hochland Romania, 10 after-school centers in Transylvania are annualy transformed into intergenerational centers, becoming places where children from in need families and senior volunteers socialize, learn new things, and help each other.
