Bucharest Stock Exchange launches an education section on the BVB Research Hub platform

Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) announces the launch of the new financial education section on the BVB Research Hub platform, dedicated to retail investors. BVB, as a capital market operator, starts this project out of the need to increase the level of financial education and promote the investment culture. The BVB Research Hub platform offers accessible, well-structured and relevant resources designed to guide investors step by step through the fundamental concepts and mechanisms of the capital market.
BVB aims to build a mini digital library, which will include introductory articles, tutorials, glossaries of terms, as well as case studies based on real market situations. The creation of such a section is a direct response to the needs of those who are at the beginning of their journey, but also of experienced investors looking to deepen their knowledge. At a time when the economic and financial environment is evolving rapidly, access to clear and well-documented information can make the difference between a successful investment decision and one that generates uncertainty.
„Through this initiative, we want to provide retail investors with the tools and knowledge they need to make informed and responsible decisions. Financial education contributes to the development of a community of investors who are better prepared and more confident in their own choices. And we, as a capital market operator, have the resources they need, as well as the place to make them available to anyone interested, namely the BVB Research Hub platform. This platform is in itself a valuable resource of information regarding BVB issuers, through the analysis reports that we publish on a recurring basis. Now, by adding the educational component, the platform becomes a true hub of investment knowledge.”, stated Radu Hanga, Chaiman of the BVB Board of Directors.
In addition to providing basic information about products and services, the new financial education section also includes materials on risk management, developing an investment strategy and interpreting stock market indices.
To support an interactive and dynamic learning process, BVB will continue the series of workshops on saving and investing, as well as entrepreneurship with partner universities and other educational partners, in which experts in the field will answer participants’ questions and provide practical examples on the best ways to manage their budget.
Currently, BVB has educational partnerships with several universities in the country. For example, an important part of the exchange’s collaboration with the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest was the project to modernize an amphitheater within ASE, which is now called the Bucharest Stock Exchange Amphitheater, and which aims to be the place for meetings between students and experts in the field of investments, in various debates and events dedicated to the capital market.
Also, the Bucharest Stock Exchange carries out the Corporate Governance that Creates Value program, in partnership with Envisia-Boards of Elite, which is intended for the professionalization of board members of listed companies or who analyzes the opportunity of listing.
A consistent education component can also be found in the BVB Arena project, through regional workshops held by capital market specialists. These workshops aim to familiarize entrepreneurs as much as possible with the investment sphere and listing on the stock exchange.
To encourage the adoption of long-term investment strategies, based on verified information, all the materials present in the educational section of the BVB Research Hub platform are developed by recognized specialists in the field of capital markets.
„I strongly believe that the dissemination of accurate and transparent information is a fundamental pillar of the development of capital markets. A well-informed investor is a long-term partner of any solid and sustainable market. The level of education, in general, and then the level of financial education, in particular, is a good indicator of the economic evolution and prosperity of a nation. Through our communication efforts and the initiatives developed over time, we support the investor community, and we want it to be as numerous and well prepared as possible. The educational component of the BVB Research Hub platform is a new brick that we are laying at the increasingly solid foundation of the investment culture.”, said Adrian Tanase, BVB CEO.
Another important aspect of the BVB initiative is the efforts to promote financial inclusion. Through access to quality resources, BVB aims to encourage the participation of young people, people at the beginning of their careers, but also those who, although they have capital, do not yet have the necessary experience to diversify their portfolios. Through informative materials designed for everyone’s understanding, BVB wants to eliminate the barriers and prejudices according to which investments in the capital market would be accessible only to a small circle of connoisseurs. BVB’s mission is to continue to improve the content and adapt to the real needs of retail investors. Together, we can build a capital market that is more robust, transparent and accessible to all categories of investors.
Over time, the Bucharest Stock Exchange has carried out numerous financial education programs, among which the most extensive was “Fluent in finance”. The results of this project have been seen almost five years after the launch of the program, which proves that it can have a positive impact even today. Financial education efforts, along with stock and bond listings, have supported the growth in the number of retail investors on the stock exchange. Thus, from about 54,000 investors at the end of 2019, the number increased to 226,000 at the end of 2024.
The financial education section available on the BVB Research Hub platform was developed with the support of the partners of the Bucharest Stock Exchange: The Association for Privately Administered Pensions in Romania, the CFA Romania Association, BT Capital Partners, the Central Depository, Estinvest, IFB Finwest, KPMG Romania, and Raiffeisen Asset Management.
