The President of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, emphasized that “from our point of view, that of the National Chamber, even if in 2023 the total value of trade between the two states was over 1.6 billion euros, the economic relationship between Romania and India is insufficiently exploited. Romania’s geographical location, with access to the Black Sea, can represent a business opportunity for the Indian business community, in terms of facilitating the transport of goods from this country to the European space. Romania and India already have a tradition of collaboration in economic sectors with high development potential, a tradition that we intend to continue. We are talking about the IT&C industry, with an emphasis on the development of the segment represented by artificial intelligence, the aerospace industry, as well as the civil and military aeronautics. Obviously, there are other Romanian economic sectors of interest to Indian investors that we can analyze in a regular dialogue with the Embassy of India in Romania”.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral economic relations, by identifying the economic sectors that the two parties can promote among the business communities, with the obvious aim of increasing the value of trade

Ambassador Ms. Manika Jain

The new Ambassador of India to Romania, H.E. Ms. Manika Jain, conveyed that this meeting represented a priority in the institutional activity of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, an absolutely necessary step to boost economic relations between the two business communities. “Currently, 486 companies with Indian capital are operating in Romania. I am firmly convinced, as a result of today’s discussion, that the number of these companies will increase in a short time. In addition to the economic sectors mentioned by the CCIR president, which will certainly attract the interest of Indian businessmen, I also add that of infrastructure, in which the two states can develop large-scale joint projects”, added the Indian official.
