On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, President of Romania Klaus Iohannis received, at the Cotroceni Palace, the accredited ambassadors presenting their credentials: Hilde Svartdal Lunde, the designated ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway; Manika Jain, the designated ambassador of the Republic of India; Noel Eugene Eusebio M. Servigon, the designated ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines; and Ri Sang-Rim, the designated ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
President Klaus Iohannis welcomed the Kingdom of Norway’s ambassador, Hilde Svartdal Lunde, and wished her success in fulfilling her mandate, assuring her of Romania’s full support. He highlighted the excellent level of bilateral relations, reflected in efficient collaboration across numerous fields and a positive dynamic in political-diplomatic contacts. The discussion addressed areas of sectoral cooperation with potential for development, focusing on energy, climate protection, and security and defense, given the status of Romania and Norway as NATO allies. Both parties expressed interest in expanding Romanian-Norwegian cooperation in areas of mutual interest. President Klaus Iohannis also appreciated the financial support provided to Romania through the European Economic Area and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms, recently extended until 2028, which gives an additional boost to bilateral economic relations.
