Banca Transilvania: Transactions through Banca Transilvania’s channels, records on all levels on Black Friday

The number of transactions made through Banca Transilvania’s channels – with BT cards and at the bank’s POS – reached an all-time high on Black Friday 2024, on November 8, with almost 10 million transactions/day, +23% compared to Black Friday 2023. BT is the leading payment processor in Romania due to the size of its business and the volume of transactions carried out through all its channels.

Another record was set between 8.00 and 9.00 am, with over 730,000 transactions/hour and almost 400 transactions/second. There were 13 consecutive hours with more than 500,000 transactions/hour.

The preference for online installment shopping has also increased : +24% compared to Black Friday 2023, totaling more than 41 million lei. The largest shopping cart paid with a BT card amounted to almost RON 70,000, for IT equipment.

In terms of total online transaction volume, it increased by more than a third on Black Friday 2024 compared to 2023: +28% transaction volume at Banca Transilvania merchants and +47% volume transacted with BT cards.

New compared to last year, the Pay with BT Pay option on the 6,500 sites that have so far implemented Banca Transilvania’s payment processing solution offered customers the possibility to make fast payments. This payment option will be significantly expanded by the bank in the coming period.

Banca Transilvania has an entire ecosystem built around cards, comprising the STAR program, the BT Pay app, the eCommerce processing platform(BTeComm), an extensive network of POS and ATMs, as well as its 6.6 million cards, of which around 4.2 million are digital inclusive.
