Cristian Popescu Piedone, the current mayor of Bucharest’s Sector 5, has issued a response to Marcel Ciolacu’s announcement that he does not want him as a candidate for the Bucharest mayoralty on behalf of the PSD-PNL Coalition.
“May God grant him good health, Mr. President. His statements are for his electorate. These statements might even backfire on him. We’ll see on June 9th, and we’ll see who the best candidate is. I’ve been raised in the army, as they say in the PSD. I joined them in ’92; I can’t be through a left-wing structure to be liberal. That’s why I chose this party, and I’ve been a social liberal for almost 15 years. Unfortunately, the two parties joined hands nationally and started to make mistakes,” declared Piedone on Sunday evening at Antena 3.
“I might leave after one term at the Bucharest City Hall,” Piedone added as he presented his team of candidates for Bucharest.
