Clotilde Armand, the Mayor of Sector 1, revealed on Sunday evening that prosecutors have closed the twelfth complaint filed against her by PNL and PSD. Despite this, she anticipates further baseless cases, attributing them to political opponents’ desperation as elections approach.
In a Facebook post addressed to Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciuca, the leaders of PNL and PSD respectively, Armand conveyed the significant development: “Gentlemen Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciuca, I have very important news for your parties. Prosecutors have dismissed the twelfth complaint filed by PNL and PSD against me.”
Armand explained that a few months ago, PNL and PSD announced her penal pursuit in a new complaint related to alleged abuses of power. The accusations stemmed from their dissatisfaction with the strict enforcement of construction laws, particularly concerning green spaces in residential areas.
Expressing her commitment to upholding the law, Armand highlighted the prosecutors’ impartiality, stating, “They [prosecutors] were upset because their real estate sponsors couldn’t build on green spaces and erect their blocks in residential neighbourhoods. Because in Sector 1, we respect the law… Prosecutors were not impressed. And what do you know? They dismissed the twelfth PNL PSD complaint against me.”
Despite the legal clearance, Armand expects more groundless complaints against her: “There is great desperation as the elections approach, and something needs to be fabricated against political opponents. Don’t believe all the smoke screens they release in the media. We continue to focus on our commitments and administration.”
