SINEMORETS

JANUARY 9 – FEBRUARY 3, 2024

In June and September of 2024, two creative camps took place in the wonderful place on the shores of the Black Sea, Sinemorets, in Bulgaria.

At the invitation and with the support of Dana and Georgi Voynov family, the owners of the chic Asti Art Hotel resort and good connoisseurs of Romanian contemporary art, a number of 25 Romanian artists, as well as guests from France, spent wonderful moments and created works of painting, sculpture, photo and video.

“The artistic meeting did not have a predetermined work theme. I mentioned as a horizon line the wonderful landscape of the places or an interpretation of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice (…)

To realize their artistic ideas and messages, the painters used various techniques and materials, each project being the result of a personal creative vision with varied impact on the public. Some worked directly on the canvas (a la prima), without a preparatory sketch, others used the drawing in nature as a guideline to the final canvas. During the artistic sessions, many photos and videos of documentary and action materials were made, which are not presented in this edition”

Georgi Voynov, June 2024

“This artistic project was divided into two stages: in the first stage, organized in June, we met at the Asti Art Hotel, Sinemorets, with the artists of the Noima group (Andrei Rosetti, Cosmin Frunteș, Sorin Scurtulescu, Ciprian Bodea, Dan Gherman), Doru and Elena Tulcan from Timișoara and another group of artists from Bucharest: Ion Grigorescu, Ruxandra Grigorescu, Maria Grigorescu, Paul and Monica Timofei, Dan Mohanu, and from Bacău a talented photographer, Ovidiu Ungureanu, helped in the documentation of the event by Marius Siminiceanu and Toma Rosetti. Sinemorets is an incredibly beautiful place, where the sea, the rocky shore and the endless oak forests merge, in one of the most beautiful protected natural parks of Bulgaria, under a sun and a sub-Mediterranean climate specific to the area. In the second stage of the project, I returned in September together with other dear friends of Galeria Romană: Horea Paștina, Mihai Sârbulescu, Christian and Silvia Paraschiv, Valentin Scarlătescu, sculptor George Hristea and three guests from France: gallerist Alain Oudin, Joachim Gliem, the makers of a very interesting documentary film and the artist Bistra Lechevalier.”

Emil Ene, 2024

The exhibition will present to the public the artworks made in both stages of the creative camp, being accompanied by a printed catalog.

Both camps were made with the professional support of the Dana and Georgi Voynov family (Asti Art Hotel, Sinemorets), of the Galeria Romana, Bucharest, and its co-owner, Emil Ene.

The exhibition remains open from January 9 to February 3, 2024.
