Spanish Film Festival in Casa Filipescu Cesianu and „Picasso.Intimo” exhibition
The Museum of Bucharest and the Embassy of Spain in Bucharest invite the public to the 3rd edition of the Spanish Film Festival, a cycle of three Spanish films, representative of the country’s cinematography.
The three films are subtitled in Romanian and will be shown from 8 to 10 September 2023, starting at 7.45 pm, in the garden or in the attic of the Filipescu-Cesianu House (Calea Victoriei, 151), depending on weather conditions. Free access, subject to availability:
√ Friday, 8 September 2023, at 20:00, screening of “The Beasts” (2022, Rodrigo Sorogoyen):
Vincent and Olga are two Frenchmen who settled some time ago in a village in the Spanish province of Galicia. Here the couple lead a quiet life, tending their vegetable garden and restoring abandoned houses, although their coexistence with the locals is not as peaceful as they would have liked. Their refusal to participate in the implementation of a wind farm will soon make things worse. (Cinemagia)
√ Saturday, 9 September 2023, 20:00, screening of El mejor jefe (2021, Fernando León de Aranoa):
Awaiting a visit from a committee that could give his company an award for excellence, a factory owner (Javier Bardem) tries to solve in time as many of his employees’ problems as possible (Cinemagia).
√ Sunday 10 September 2023, 20:00, screening of Madres paralelas (2021, Pedro Almodóvar):
Janis (Penélope Cruz) and Ana (Milena Smit), two single women who accidentally become pregnant, meet in the corridor of the hospital where they are about to give birth. Janis, a middle-aged woman, has no regrets and feels fulfilled. Ana, on the other hand, a teenager, is frightened and traumatised. The few words the two women exchange during the hours of waiting create a close bond between them that fate will complicate and their lives will irrevocably change. (Cinemagia).
The event also includes an open-air exhibition dedicated to world-renowned artist Pablo Picasso, consisting of a series of 14 photographs of the artist, which can be admired from 8 September to 20 October 2023 at the Casa Filipescu-Cesianu (Calea Victoriei 151).
Through the photographs of Roberto Otero, an Argentinian photographer, who captures in a special way Picasso’s maturity and his gaze in his house in Notre-Dame-de-Vie, this exhibition invites the viewer to create and develop his own relationship with Picasso on the 50th anniversary of his passing.
