OVER 70 MILLION EUROS REMAIN IN CLUJ-NAPOCA AFTER UNTOLD 2023
UNTOLD CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE CLUJ COMMUNITY!

AN ADDITIONAL 1.8 MILLION LEI INVESTED BY UNTOLD IN CLUJ ARENA STADIUM, CENTRAL PARK AND POLIVALENTA HALL
The UNTOLD Festival made history in 2023. Over 420,000 participants and 250 artists experienced the magic of UNTOLD over the course of 4 days and 4 nights. Many attendees spent several days in and around Cluj-Napoca before or after one of the world’s largest festivals.
Organizers estimate that out of the total participants, 35% are from Cluj County, followed by Bucharest, Timișoara and the rest of the country. Additionally, over 25% are international visitors, marking a 10% increase from previous years. This year, UNTOLD welcomed fans from more than 100 countries, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, the USA, Hungary, Spain, Israel and even exotic countries like Brazil, Argentina, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and India.
A preliminary calculation based on estimated figures from organizers and festival partners, local hoteliers, restaurant owners, shopping centers, etc., suggests that those from outside Cluj County spent an average of at least 700 euros during the 4-day festival on accommodation, transportation, food, sightseeing and shopping in the city. This translates to an infusion of over 70 million euros into the local community. The money spent by UNTOLD attendees will contribute to local taxes, fees and revenues for local businesses, as well as property owners who rented out their apartments, houses and guesthouses.
The UNTOLD Festival brings significant international prestige to the city of Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania and the entire country. Artists, production teams, journalists, influencers, international photographers and fans who came from abroad now share stories about Cluj-Napoca and UNTOLD worldwide. UNTOLD, one of the world’s largest festivals, continues to grow each year. Even Billboard, the renowned music and entertainment publication, covered the 8th edition of UNTOLD.
In 2022, UNTOLD ranked 5th in the global festival rankings according to Viberate and 9th in the Top 100 Festivals based on fan votes worldwide in the DJ Mag ranking.
Investments by UNTOLD in Cluj Arena and Central Park
To host the UNTOLD Festival, organizers entered into several contracts to use spaces owned by Cluj-Napoca City Hall and Cluj County Council. The total amount paid by organizers for UNTOLD 2023 is over 1,070,000 lei. This sum covers the costs of using the spaces during setup, teardown and the 4-day festival period at Central Park Cluj, Cluj Arena, Sala Polivalenta and Casino. For the food area located at the former swimming pool area, UNTOLD operates under a rental agreement with the private operator who owns that space.
Furthermore, UNTOLD organizers provided a 350,000 lei guarantee for using Cluj Arena, where the main stage of the festival is located. In addition, organizers have an insurance policy covering all festival spaces, up to 5 million euros in value.
Separate from rental costs, UNTOLD will invest over 750,000 lei this year for maintaining and developing the festival spaces. Planned actions include:
- overseeding the grass at Cluj Arena prior to the festival,
- protecting the athletics track with heavy-duty flooring equipment,
- protecting the grass with state-of-the-art flooring (used by major event organizers throughout Europe),
- contributing to the refurbishment of the stadium’s surface,
- cleaning roof drainage gutters,
- restoring the parking lot’s vegetation,
- upgrading the pedestrian pavement around the stadium,
- irrigation system expansion,
- conducting lighting improvements in Central Park.
Achievement and Good Deeds Rewarded by UNTOLD
This year, UNTOLD continued to support academic excellence and good deeds. In the summer, 35 high school graduates who earned a 10 on the Baccalaureate exam gained free entry to the festival. Another 897 students who received a perfect score in the summer session were granted free access for the 4 days. Those who saved lives by donating blood through the Blood Network campaign received free access on the first day of the festival or had the option to purchase a 4-day pass at a special price. Over 2,500 young people donated blood this year as part of Romania’s longest-running blood donation campaign.
The eighth edition of the UNTOLD Festival took place from August 3rd to 6th. A lineup of 250 national and international artists, DJs and producers, including Imagine Dragons, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Alok, Eric Prydz, Tale of Us, Bebe Rexha, Ava Max, FERG, French Montana and ZHU, delivered special performances at UNTOLD 2023.
